Luciana, a poor, young woman working as a maid in the venerable Velarde home, falls in love with young seminary student Juan de la Cruz, the Velarde's son. The night before Juan is to return to the seminary, he and Luciana give in to their feelings and spend a night together. A short time after Juan leaves, Luciana discovers she is pregnant and is forced to tell Ana Joaquina, Juan's cruel mother, that Juan is the father. Mercilessly fired and thrown out of the house, Luciana is left homeless and penniless on the streets. On a cold, rainy night, Luciana gives birth to a baby girl. Terrified and alone, Luciana makes the painful decision to leave her baby on the doorstep of a mansion in hopes that someone else could give her daughter a better life. Twenty years later, Luciana has now become Luciana Duval: a renowned and respected business woman in the fashion world. As the owner of her own fashion empire, Luciana seems to have it all: success, wealth, fame, a handsome and loving husband in the form of famous television actor Andrés Duval, a caring, if roguish, stepson Víctor Manuel, and a pretty teenage daughter named Lizbeth. However, Luciana's life is far from perfect. She carries the dark memory of her past and has never truly forgiven herself for abandoning her baby girl. For years, Luciana has secretly searched for her daughter and never let on to her family and friends. But the reappearance of Padre Juan de la Cruz opens old wounds for Luciana and forces her to reluctantly enlist his help in finding their long-lost daughter. Unbeknownst to Luciana, her beloved daughter is much closer than she could ever have imagined. Cristina Miranda is a fresh-faced, enthusiastic new model at Luciana's fashion company and also her long-lost daughter. Luciana exposes Cristina to the cold, cruel world of modeling and spares her no humiliation. Cristina overcomes Luciana's hot temper and quickly becomes the star model in the company. Víctor Manuel takes notice of Cristina's beauty and the two fall deeply in love. But everything comes crashing down when Luciana finds out about the relationship. Luciana fires Cristina and makes her life a living hell by continually causing Cristina to be fired from any other job she manages to get. Víctor Manuel, on the other hand, is pressured into marrying his ex-girlfriend Tamara when she falsely claims to be pregnant by him. Humiliation, frustration, anger, grief, guilt, pain, regret, and remorse are all in store for Luciana as she slowly begins to work through her demons and unravel the identity of her missing daughter. How can Luciana ever earn her daughter's forgiveness after abandoning her and later tormenting her so viciously?

Paran Jai Jaliya Re is a romantic-drama/comedy film. Subhashree portrays an NRI girl living in London whose father (portrayed by Biswajit Chakraborty) wants her to get married with an Indian lad. However, Subhasree's character is deeply involved in a yet-platonic relationship with a half-Brit boy Harry. Subhasree's brother (played by Tota Roy Choudhury) is involved in a relationship with a British girl and wants to marry her. However, his father refuses to let him marry the girl and this event promptly induces him to leave his parents' home. Meanwhile, Subhasree's father manages to bring his wife and daughter to India where he can find a suitable groom for his daughter. This is where they meet Dev, a quintessential charming Bengali lad who falls head-on in love with Subhasree and their marriage is invariably finalized since Dev's father is an old friend of Subhasree's Dad as well. However, although Subhasree evidently likes Dev, she hatches a plan to delay and finally, annul the engagement by implementing her brother's plan of bringing Dev to London and 'breaking up' with him abroad. Poran Jai Jolia Re is the story of how Dev manages to win his love over all adversities in a foreign land. Aritra Dutta Banik leaves his mark as Dev's cousin, making the viewers laugh at almost every syllable. Dev shows prowess in his acting skills while Subhasree appears to have honed her acting skills post the success of Challenge. Also impressive are Biswajit as Subhasree's father and Tota Roy Choudhury as Shubhasree's brother.

1978. Fourteen year old Augusten Burroughs narrates the story of his love/hate relationship with his mother, Deirdre Burroughs. As a child, Augusten loved and wanted to be like his theatrical acting mother, who aspires to be a famous writer, with her person being more renowned than her writing. She is critical of writers in general while not achieving that wanted fame because of not being a gifted enough a writer. Her writing is fueled largely by her manic depression. Augusten's now divorced parents had a turbulent relationship, his alcoholic father, Norman Burroughs, who is now largely out of his life by Norm's own choice. To deal with her mental issues, Deirdre has been seeing therapist Dr. Finch, whose actions are largely motivated by a singular issue. Out of circumstance, Augusten strikes a relationship with Dr. Finch's disparate but completely eccentric family: his quietly nervous wife, Agnes Finch; religiously fanatic eldest daughter Hope; rebellious younger daughter Natalie; and thirty-five year old recently adopted son Neil Bookman, who was and still is one of his patients. In Norm's self-imposed abandonment and Deirdre's own dealings with her unstable mental state, Augusten reluctantly finds in the Finches a surrogate family, far from the "normal" family within which he dreams for himself. But in his relationship with the Finches, Augusten will learn where he wants his mother to fit in his life, and what he has to do for himself to have the life he wants given the cards he was dealt. He will also find that he has a kindred soul who was not obvious to him at first glance.
